UNGA-SOCHUM- United Nations General Assembly

AGENDA : Addressing all Forms of Discrimination against refugees with Special Emphasis on Ukrainian and Palestinian Refugees

In December 1949, the United Nations General Assembly established the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to provide humanitarian relief to the more than 700,000 refugees and displaced persons who had been forced to flee their homes in Palestine as a result of the 1948 Arab-Israeli war.

UNHCR is working with national authorities to identify and support people forced to flee within Ukraine and scaling up response in neighboring countries currently receiving refugees.
