From a small beginning in the President's Estate in 1941 as Church High School to Naveen Bharat School in 1947 and finally in 1949 at its present location at Mathura Road, DPS has traversed a long journey. The birth of a new nation in 1947 was in a way the beginning of DPS (called Naveen Bharat School). A momentous time in the history of our nation, when a beginning was made to fulfil a social and national need.

Delhi Public School, with the motto "Service Before Self", has been serving the Society in the field of education for the last 64 years. There are presently more than 180 schools under its aegis, both in and outside India.
The Delhi Public School Society started its first school in the year 1949, and since then has been imparting quality education aiming at the overall development of each child. The Schools are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi.
Its focus, simply, is on high achievement in the strong academic programme. A substantial co-curricular programme is also offered.
